Healing Art-programma

TMC Health’s Healing Art Program creates uplifting environments that support patient recovery and emotional well-being. Research shows that thoughtfully chosen art and music in hospitals can ease pain, reduce stress, and even accelerate healing—often leading to shorter hospital stays.

Our mission

Supporting healing and wellness through art

At TMC Health, we believe the arts have the power to transform care.
Founded in 2014 by local art collectors Len and Doris Coris, the TMC Health Healing Art Program was created as a meaningful way for artists to share their passions and creativity with the Tucson community.
Whether through music, dance, or the visual arts, we are committed to enriching the experience of every patient, team member and visitor—and to honoring the healing power of the arts.

Meet Jenna Green, our Healing Art Program Manager

We are thrilled to welcome our newest Foundation team member, Jenna Green!
Jenna has been the dedicated co-curator of the Healing Art Program alongside Lauren Rabb since September 2024, and we are proud to share that she has now joined the TMC Health Foundation as a full-time member.
Please join us in giving her a warm welcome!

Our art collection

More than 2,200 works of art are installed throughout The TMC Health System, including four hospitals (Tucson Medical Center, TMC Rincon, Benson Hospital, and Northern Cochise Community Hospital), 5 five oncology sites, and twenty-one clinics (primary and specialty care offices referred to as TMCOne).
The art collection aims to create a healing atmosphere for patients and their families and supportive, calming places for staff.  Art installations in the main lobbies, waiting rooms, corridors, patient rooms, and other public spaces throughout TMC Health System facilities have been made possible through donations from artists and collectors and grant support from the TMC Health Foundation.
The program’s gallery-quality portfolio of works includes paintings, photographs, graphics, and sculptures by both emerging and established professional artists. Many of these artists are local to Tucson or the Southwestern region.

Music

Studies have shown music in a medical setting can contribute to a reduction in perception of pain, improved blood pressure and respiration. Music has also been proven to reduce anxiety, improve sleep quality, mood, mental alertness and memory. Since 2014 The Healing Art Program has hosted a cohort of professionally trained musicians to provide live music to patients and visitors. Current musicians include a harpist, guitar players, and violinists. All sessions are free.
Ambient
Throughout the week, talented musicians play soothing and inspiring music from classical to pop in public spaces throughout Tucson Medical Center.
Bedside
Visits from a musician can include performances of specifically requested songs, the musicians’ original works, or a calming background melody. The patient and the musician can mutually guide the visit based on the patient’s requests and condition. Musician referrals can be made for current inpatients by calling the Program Manager, Jenna Green at (520) 324-4726 or by emailing at
Healing Harmony Concert series
Every year the TMC Health Foundation hosts a Healing Harmony Concert series featuring lively music from locally and internationally renowned artists while raising critical funds for Southern Arizona’s only community hospital system. Please visit this page to learn more.
